Special Announcement for the 47th International Kolkata Book Fair | Frontlist

There are only nine more days until the 47th International Kolkata Book Fair begins. The fair will be inaugurated by our Hon'ble Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee on January 18, 2024, at 4 p.m. at the Boimela Prangan in Salt Lake, in the presence of Mr. Alex Ellis CMG, British High Commissioner to India, Ms. Alison Barrett MBE, Director, British Council, India, Smt. Bani Basu, eminent author, and other authors, dignitaries, and Hon'ble Ministers from our state.
Here are the highlights of this year's International Kolkata Book Fair:

1. There will be approximately 1,000 stalls and Little Magazines. This year, we have allocated stalls to many more independent publishers at the Book Fair.

2. 'Chiro Tarun', or Senior Citizen's Day, will be observed on January 24. On that day, an interactive session would be held with a senior author, senior publisher, and senior reader, namely Abul Basar, Debajyoti Datta, and Saswati Adhikari.

3. The IKBF 2024 will feature nine entry and exit gates to facilitate tourist circulation. One of the gates will be a copy of London's Tower Bridge. Another Gate will be a replica of Bethune School to commemorate its 175th anniversary. Among the other gates will be Biswa Bangla Gate, as well as two gates named after Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay and Federico Garcia Lorca in honour of their 125th birthdays.

4. The Book Fair's two main halls, which primarily feature English titles, have been named after Samares Mazumdar and A.S. Byatt, both of whom died in 2023. The Little Magazine Pavilions will be named after Sandip Dutta, who died last year. There will also be an HDFC Ergo Press Corner and two Mukta Manchas (open stages) dedicated after Nirendranath Chakraborty and Samaresh Basu to commemorate their centenary years of birth. In honour of Sashtipada Chattopadhyay, the Children's Pavilion will be themed around Pandab Genda's characters.

5. West Bengal's Transport Department will provide increased bus services. There will be a special Metro from Sealdah, and the service will be available during the holidays. The car fare for the Book Fair will be regulated with the assistance of the Bidhannagar Police.

6. Peerless Hospitex Hospital And Research Centre Limited, IKBF 2024's Health Partner, will provide a specific medical assistance service with ambulance.

7. The CESC-created International Kolkata Book Fair 2024 android app for locating any stall in the fair will be available.

8. Meghbela Broadband will be Book Fair's only broadband partner in 2024.

9. Our hospitality partner, Novotel Hotels and Residences, will welcome our international guests.

10. The International Kolkata Book Fair 2024 will have participation from approximately 20 countries worldwide.

We are grateful to CESC for their all-out collaboration. There will be a well-decorated CESC Corner for notable Book Fair attendees. The daily lottery would begin from there, with CESC distributing a Book Gift Coupon worth Rs 15,000/- per day to the lucky winners.
"Buy books and win a Book Library" - As part of its commitment to society, Guild's mission is to make the chance available to an increasing number of book lovers. The 'Book Bumper Library lottery' will be held, with the winners receiving a Book Gift Coupon of Rs 25,000/- apiece.
Dr. Rama Prasad Goenka's CESC Sristi Samman 2024 will be given to Smt Bani Basu.

We are sincerely grateful to the State Bank of India, our official banker, for providing complete financial facilities, ATMs, and E-services on the Fair Ground.

We are also obliged to ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, our official insurer.
We also appreciate the National Jute Board's cooperation as our Green partner.

IKBF 2024 will have a virtual live presence on the Book Fair's website and social media channels. Those who live overseas can access Book Fair's programmes online. Sister Nivedita University is our exclusive digital partner.

For the first time, a customised digital ground map with the IKBF 2024 participant list will be available by just scanning the QR code at all Book Fair entry points.

The main feature of the International Kolkata Book Fair, which we all look forward to, will be the 10th edition of the Kolkata Literature Festival, which will take place over three days within the SBI auditorium from January 26 to 28, 2024.
